After the Americans left we had one finished tyre U, half a can/bottle U and the beginnings of a third tyre room. Oscar and various friends and visitors (we regularly get calls from people all over the place ringing up and asking if they can visit - they can, they do and they usually get roped into doing something on the house...) worked on and off over the winter on the tyres and by June 2005 we had this:
Then a group of six people from the Netherlands came down for a two week workshop/camp out and we ended up with all the tyre work finished and the bond beam started. Berthus and Douwe had come to the American Seminar and it was nice to have them both back on a more intimate footing. Theo is Berthus' brother and the main instigator of the workshop, he got the ball rolling and sort of organized everything. Toon and Saskia came together with Saskia's daughter Wiske who was the same age as Carla. It was right proper fun with such a small group of really energetic and enthusiastic people. We worked in the mornings then went to the canal for a swim before lunch. Everybody had the afternoons free to do whatever. By then we had also completed the bathroom and the oven so everybody could shower and roast all they wanted. Great group - great fortnight and HEAPS done on the house. It started looking as if it might one day get finished.
